This year, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) made some important changes in the examination pattern of class 12th Maths. The students must be aware of changing format of Maths question paper for board exam. CBSE pay more attention to the school-based/internal assessment. Some major changes will be observed in the question paper in the upcoming board exam of 2020.
According to the CBSE new pattern for class 12th Math 2019-20, the board has included more short answer type questions and multiple-choice questions as per the new pattern of CBSE board for class 12.
In the board exam of Maths, the question paper will be divided into 4 sections A, B, C, and D, which consists of 36 questions in total. Here is the following detail:
• Sections A will contain 20 questions of 1 marks each.
• Section B will contain 6 questions of 2 marks each.
• Section C will also comprise 6 questions of 4 marks each.
• Section D will consist of 4 questions of 6 marks each.
The availability of choices will not be present in overall. However, the internal choice between question can give pleasant expression in students face.
This internal choice will be available in 3 questions of 1 mark each, 2 questions of 2 marks each, 2 questions of 4 marks each, and 2 questions of 6 marks each. The students have to attempt only one of the alternatives in all such questions.
The increased number of choices will help students pick a question which they are more confident about, which further will help them enhance their marks in the board examination.
The main objective of these extreme changes in the examination is to improve the quality of education. In addition, it will also develop analytical skills and reasoning abilities among students, which further helps to produce better results, plus improve the academic quality of institutions.
Previously, the internal assessment was not involved in all the subjects of Maths class 12. According to this rule, 20% will be kept for internal assessment. Thus, the CSBE board paper will carry 80% marks from the March 2020 board exam. In class 12 Mathematics subjects, board exam will be conducted for 80 marks and remaining 20 marks will be kept for the internal assessment. In addition, 10 marks out of 20 will be taken from the results of the school exams. The remaining 10 marks will be taken from the internal evaluation.
